Ronaldo joined the Saudi club Al-Nasr as part of a deal that extends to 2025.

Cristiano Ronaldo: The Portuguese star joins the "world" for two seasons

Former Manchester United star and Portugal national team Cristiano Ronaldo joined the Saudi club Al-Nasr as part of a deal that extends to 2025.

And the club's official account on the Internet published a picture of the player holding the club's shirt and commented on it, "The greatest athlete in the world officially signs the world," which is the title of the Saudi club.

Ronaldo has been considered a free soccer player since he left United, against the background of a press interview in which he criticized the English club.

It is scheduled that Ronaldo will receive the largest wage for a football player in the history of the game, as his financial dues amount to 177 million pounds annually.

Musli Al Muammar, President of Al-Nasr Club, said: "This deal is greater than writing a new historical chapter. This player is a higher example for all athletes and youth in the world, and with his presence in Al-Nasr, we will move forward to achieve more success for the club, Saudi sports, and future generations."

The 37-year-old Portuguese star said he was eager "to have a new experience in a new football league in a different country".

The Saudi club Al-Nasr, which won the Saudi League title nine times, described the Ronaldo deal as a "history-making" for the club.

The club said the arrangement would "motivate the association, the country, ages to come, young men and young ladies to continuously be awesome"

And Ronaldo rejected an offer to move to the Saudi football club Al-Hilal at a value of 305 million pounds last summer, stressing that he was happy to be in the ranks of Manchester United.

And last November, the Portuguese striker spoke to broadcaster Piers Morgan on "Tok TV", in which he said that he felt "betrayed" by the English club and that he did not respect material coach Eric ten Hag, which was the statements that led to his dismissal.

Ronaldo scored 145 goals in 346 matches for Manchester United, then left the ranks of Italian Juventus to return again to Old Trafford in August 2021, about 11 years after leaving Real Madrid, Spain.

Ronaldo's contract with Man United was set to expire after seven months, according to which he received 500,000 pounds a week, but his immediate departure from the English club came "by agreement of the two parties."

One day after he decided to leave the club, a decision was issued to stop Ronaldo from two domestic matches after he dropped a phone from an Everton fan after United's defeat at Goodison Park last April.

And the former European football star will implement the suspension decision at the local level with any new club he joins - whether in England or abroad - although the suspension does not apply at the continental level, such as the suspension decisions in the European Champions League.

Ronaldo returned from the 2022 World Cup in Qatar after making history to be the first soccer player to score goals in five different World Cup finals after scoring the first winning goal for his country in the tournament over Ghana.
